Lighting Designer, Event Production


Role Purpose

The Lighting Designer will have experience in creating original stage and set designs for our proposal process. The ideal designer will understand stage lighting, stylistic and architectural components of stage and set design and execute those concepts into photo realistic renderings. They will also have familiarity with the event industry, audio and visual equipment, and staging elements, working closely with clients, sales staff, operations, and project managers to develop comprehensive designs and to coordinate pre-production, onsite, and post-production requirements and activities.


  • Assist Sales Managers in the creation of original stage and set designs in response to the needs of our clients, based on budgetary guidelines and accepted technical standards
  • Assist Sales Managers in fulfillment of RFP’s and entertainment riders
  • Update working design drawings and renderings as needed
  • Provide final drawings, including weight per point calculations, for submission to venue and local Fire Marshall
  • Integrate and coordinate project and event requirements with clients, venues, and other departments, including audio, video, lighting, rigging, power, labor and shipping schedules as required
  • Create show specific equipment Pull Sheets within inventory control software (FLEX)
  • Coordinate special projects, including research and recommendations for purchase of specialty related items for show applications
  • Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and neat work environment
  • Assume duties of co-workers throughout company as needed



  • 3+ years experience in corporate and/or touring design, coordination, management
  • Hands-on programming and operation experience in modern moving light consoles and fixtures in a live production environment. (i.e. GrandMA, Hog, Martin, High End, or equivalent)
  • Advanced comprehension of electrical power as it relates to show lighting requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Availability to travel as required
  • Advanced comprehension of rigging principles
  • Have excellent written, communication and time management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and provide a respectful and positive work environment
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and current insurance
  • Ability to operate scissor lift and forklift (preferred)

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, carry, move, and place up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment into trucks.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
